We have had some amazing weather for June, putting to shame the “Junuary” nickname for this time of year in Seattle. The sun has been shining more often than not, and the heat wave, while intense for the area, has made me less weary of living in such a weary place. Cora has seemed to not mind the heat too much either. We took our first whole family kayak outing this weekend. I really hope we do that again and more often. Although it’s gonna get tricky with 4 of us!
Cora was definitely taking it easy for this ride. She did pretty well, only tried to jump out twice. I know you may be thinking, that’s “pretty well?!?” but hey when the wiggle worm is actually trying to take it easy, it’s a blessing.
Two items of note on this excursion: 1) It’s pretty hard to paddle backwards. I don’t know if that is supposed to be that hard, but I know I’m really not in the shape for it… and 2) the summer solstice was the week before, and that garners some celebrants sans clothes in the Fremont neighborhood. But for some reason, the lack of clothing persisted to this weekend’s kayak trip in our neighborhood. We “lucked out” to see a lot more natural views than expected on one of the shoreline parks in Denny Blaine.
